MODELLA (2) is a handy type who resumes after a break of four-and-a-half months. At her last appearance she finished fifth over 7f in the G3 Hawkesbury Guineas, beaten 3 lengths. Fitter for recent trials. Has never missed the frame when fresh from a lay-off in two starts. Settles back early but winds up late. One of the leading chances. MERGEILA (3) is back from a lay-off of 11 months. Closed last prep with a second, beaten a nose, over 6½f at Rosehill. Looks ready to run a big race following two recent trials. Key runner. MAMUSHKA (11) was in the firing line on the bend and finished third last time over 6f at Gosford when resuming from a lay-off, beaten a long neck. Taking on a better line-up this time but she cannot be ruled out. WANGI WANGI (14) showed good early speed over 5½f at Gosford on debut last start and went on to salute by a head. Facing a tougher assignment but can figure in the finish.
