SCAMPI (3) made a strong late bid only to just miss when fresh from a lay-off last start over 5½f at Ballarat. Will strip a lot fitter this time around. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is capable of testing his rivals. GIN A TONIC (2) is unbeaten this campaign, the latest win coming over 5f at Cranbourne when he got home by a long neck. Lay-off so a big run is likely. RECUPERATO (10) found the line nicely to grab second last time out over 6f in the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield. Will find this much easier. Certainly one to consider. STAY FOCUSED (1) ran a better race when second up last start, finishing fourth and beaten 3. 5 lengths at Pakenham. Has good early speed so should take up a forward position. Must be respected.
