FIRST EMPIRE (20) made a strong late bid only to just miss when when resuming as favourite last start over 6f at Doomben. Will take a lot from that hitout. Facing a tougher assignment but he is capable of running another bold race. KILONOVA (17) did a good job last time, finishing in the money when third over 6f at Gold Coast. Will find this tougher but can measure up. BLUEPINOT (13) showed good early speed and raced on the pace last start before fading to finish sixth, beaten 1. 5 lengths, over 7¾f at Canterbury. Another bold showing is expected. IMPENDOR (7) hasn't been far away lately, beaten a long neck at his most recent outing when fourth over 5½f at Ipswich. Facing a tougher assignment but is too good to overlook.
