MIDWEST (7) showed good early dash last time out and led for most of the way before being claimed and finishing 1.2 lengths away in third over 5f in the LR Bob Hoysted Hcp at Flemington. Will take catching. JOYFUL FORTUNE (2) was unwanted in betting last time but scored by a long neck over 5f in the LR Bob Hoysted Hcp at Flemington. Should settle just off the speed despite the draw. Expected to be in the finish. REY MAGNERIO (1) tackled stakes class last time and finished seventh over 6f in the G1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley. Jye McNeil who has scored on him six times retains the mount. One of the main contenders. GOLDEN MONKEY (3) returns from a layoff of seven months. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last time in work over 6f at Kranji Turf. Yet to win when resuming but generally runs well with four minor placings from six tries. Looks a strong top-three prospect.
