SHAW CAN FLY (11) showed good early dash and led for much of the way before weakening out of it when 13 lengths away in ninth over 1m2f at Pakenham. Likely to take some running down. PITMAN (10) could only manage eighth two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 1m1 1/4f at Avoca, beaten only a head. Nicely placed to take this out. TE TANIWHA (13) was prominent at the turn and finished third last time over 1m2 1/2f at this track, beaten 4. 5 lengths. Placed to advantage and can run a bold race. MEGA NEEDS (3) strode forward early from his wide draw over 1m2f at Warracknabeal last time, leading into the straight but fading right out of it to finish eighth. Solid top-three prospects.
