WATERSPORTS (12) showed early speed from a good draw last time and raced on speed before drawing clear to score by a head over 7½f at Cranbourne. Has a win and two minor placings at this journey from four starts and is a leading contender. MOMETZ (10) was a long way back last start but hit the line well to finish fifth, beaten 5 lengths, over 7f at Sandown-Lakeside. Solid top-three prospects. OTAGO (4) was beaten 1. 4 lengths into fifth in a 1m contest at Cranbourne two weeks ago. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance.
