COWARRIE (1) is still a maiden after nine starts. Could only manage to finish tenth last time out over 1m2f at Warrnambool following a minor placing at Stawell over 1m2f the run prior. Terrific chance to break through. PHOENICIAN (2) was well fancied last time but found one better at Echuca, finishing one length adrift at the end of 1m2 1/2f. Looks well placed stepping out in trip. Should be in the finish again. TUPAC (5) showed little early speed last start then came with a powerful run to finish third over 1m2f at Warrnambool. Among the chances. INSTINCTIVE SPIRIT (6) is a 24-start maiden who finished fourth, beaten 6 lengths, when resuming from a lay-off last start over 1m2f at Colac. Definite top-three hope with plenty of improvement to come.
