RARE MOON (6) did a good job last start to finish third at Newcastle over 4½f, beaten 1.4 lengths. Cherry-ripe now. Yet to find winning form this prep but has been thereabouts with two placings from three starts. Bold showing expected. ALPINE SKI (2) resumes from a lay-off of seven months. Looked close to a win before that break, finishing off with a minor placing over 5¾f at Randwick Kensington. Should be forward enough following two recent trials. Nicely placed and expected to go well. GORBACHEV (3) returns after four-and-a-half months in the paddock. Closed the last campaign with a fifth over 7f at Hawkesbury. Looks ready to run following a minor placing in a recent Randwick trial. Strong winning chance on best figures. RIVANA (7) was last at the races when she finished fifth over 4½f at Newcastle on December 1. Worth plenty of thought.
