CIGAR MAN (2) raced on the speed from the outset last start and finished third, beaten 2. 25 lengths, over 1m at Goulburn. Nicely placed to go a couple better. PIERONIMO (4) doesn't win out of turn but ran a strong race last time out over 1m2f at this track, finishing fourth and beaten 2. 25 lengths when he made late ground. Looks well placed so expect a big run this time. CASTERLY ROCK (1) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a strong race last time out, finishing second and beaten only 1. 1 lengths over 1m1 1/2f at Kilcoy. Damien Thornton gets the best out of this five-year-old gelding. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he is good enough to play a major role. PIERTAGA (10) was too good for a maiden field last start over 1m1/2f at this track, scoring by one length. Dale Smith was in the saddle on that occasion and retains the mount. This is tougher but she cannot be underestimated.
