MAL COUPE (1) returns from a six months break after scoring three wins on end, the latest over 5½f win at Rosehill. Hard to deny on recent efforts. RANTAN (2) closed last campaign with back-to-back placings, the last of which was at Warwick Farm four-and-a-half months ago. Has an impressive strike rate at this distance with three wins from four runs and is sure to run well. JAMBALAYA (12) finished sixth two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 5½f at Canterbury, beaten only 1. 4 lengths. Taking on a better field but he is up to the task. SHAGGY (6) was in contention on the bend and finished third last start over 5½f at Canterbury, beaten 1. 1 lengths. Goes up a rung or two but he is capable of running a bold race.
