NAVY STEEL (2) went back early from his wide draw over 5f at Randwick last time but hit the line strongly to finish seventh. Outsprinted in the run home but kept coming and the extra ground looks a big plus. Expected to measure up. ANTILOCAPRA (6) is back from a lay-off of six-and-a-half months and does go well when fresh, including a win to launch last campaign over 6f at Scone. Has found the right race to kick off the campaign. MISS CHECKONI (7) has been out of the winner's list for a long time, last start finishing tenth at Beaumont (Newcastle) over 6¾f. Placed to advantage so expect a bold run.
